The Oak Barrel Half Marathon will be using the ChampionChip timing system to score the race.  The timing chip is a small, lightweight device about the size of a quarter, which you attach to your shoelace.  Timing chip triggers the timer as you cross the starting mats and also as you cross the finish mat.  This way, regardless of where you are when the announcer says “Go”, your race time is recorded as the actual time it takes you to cover the race course.
